Ian Farquhar has been mastering the world of personal computers since 1989 when he got his hands on his first Apple Macitosh Classic in the 6th grade. From middle school through high school teachers recognized Ian's natural aptitude with computing and heaped on learning opportunities and responsibilities. By the time Ian entered Oregon State University at 17 he had already built wide-scale local area networks and managed a large, modern desktop publishing computer lab. While Farquhar majored in Forestry and Natural Resources at OSU it was his computer skills that put him through school - first installing network software and hardware in computers' of incoming freshman, then offering advice at help desks across campus, then taking full-time work in the College of Forestry's IT department to build and manage the school's computer labs. Farquhar also played a key role in migrating the school's newspaper, The Barometer, into the world of online publishing.

After university, Farquhar continued to stay acute in the information age, offering shoestring troubleshooting for endless non-profits and cash strapped small-businesses. His covert computer technician skills were often put to the test by employers that had first brought him on as an outdoor educator. Farquhar has also advised and consulted extensively within the realtor community in Bend, Oregon - his hometown.

Formerly, Farquhar was a Program Coordinator at California outdoor education company Naturalists At Large and Summer Program Director at the Metro Center YMCA in Seattle. He is a certified rock climbing instructor with the Professional Climbing Instructors Association. He is known in the outdoor industry as a thoughtful, straight-shooter with a knack for teaching technical skills and managing complex logistics.
